Morning Evening

Oh would you like to hear a story

About a man who’s tired of life

Rejected money, love and glory

To escape the city strife

He found an empty wild meadow

To make a home among the trees

To lose his past, to lose his shadow

Face the sun and find his peace

But in the evening, he hikes up the mountain

To see the city lights

His music whispering round him

And remembers his old life

And though he has his isolation

He has no peace of mind

And his brain still fixates on

The one he left behind

And in the evening, he climbs up the mountain

To see the harbour lights

Sees the dancing people carousing

And pictures her new life

And in his dreams he is kissed

By the woman so missed

But when he wakes he insists

He was right to resits what couldn’t exist

Among the trees, among the water

He sees faces from the past

And hears the voice always calling

Of the love that he lost

And in the evening, he climbs up the mountain

To see the harbour lights

Sees the dancing people carousing

And pictures her new life
