this is a message to the one that helped me grow older

the nights are colder when you're not around and i aint sober

its been a year ever since liquor took my mind away for that reason

i dont wish to feel the winds that took you out, soldier

you always fought for us, encouraged us to love

as a kid i didnt get it but i get it after all

in this world, only hatred ever won so i dont want it

if i gotta pick a side, imma choose my world for sure

57 aint too old, you still had life to live

at 17, i carried you with my life to give

your son and i carried all of the weight on top our shoulders

you may not have been my dad but you gave lots to me

i promise this

i aint forgetting your soul

and if everyone around you dont remember who you are

i hope you know i always saw you as a father

one after another we'd look after each other

living life so fast, we forgot to see the wonders

but you taught us to be patient and to cherish our brothers

blood dont make bonds, blood only shows you where you from

remember that when choosing who to love and who to not

i dont mean no disrespect, i love my family so much

i just love all of my people in the way i always loved

so please remember to forgive

we aint got long to live

the systematic struggle is something i'll never get

if money pays the bills, then what really feeds your soul?

it wont ever keep you happy, only love will ever give

so please forget whats in your wallet, go hug your mom and dad
