On the Borderline

Back and forth back and forth I’m waiting.

Drawing scores in the ground– I’m pacing.

Am I a fool to even come?

But her eyes when they meet my own,

I feel the world as I’ve never known.

It’s like my life has just begun.

All it took was a moment stole my breath from me.

Every second gone without her feels like agony

So I stand on the edge of this line

Counting every single breathless beat to pass the time…

Back and forth back and forth my thoughts run.

Between my head and heart all I’ve gotten–

Is lost within his softened voice.

But the path laid out here in sand

Shifts below no matter where I stand

But all I want is not a choice.

All it took was a moment all my plans had changed

Everything I thought I wanted now is not the same

So I pray for a break in the time

Counting every single reason I should cross that line.

I’m on the borderline

Of breaking

Into something new

Something bold

Something I get to choose

Down–

All the rules

And the dreams

I built my whole life around

Back and forth back and forth replaying

All my thoughts that just won’t stop racing

Am I a fool to chase the sun?

Lay before me is an unchanged course

Like waves upon the shore

But I want to change the tide just once…

Of taking

Steps I’ve always dreamed

But held back

This time I take the lead.

I’m on the borderline

Of making-

A mistake would be

To hold back

I’ve got to know what this means

Still, I wait here every time

For a chance of a glance, by her side

I’d ask the sun not to rise.

Still, I waste each day and night,

Fighting shifts but wand’ring if, there could exist

Afternoons full of moonlight?

It’s a breakdown or breakthrough

My sanity can’t seem to choose.

I’m losing a war between logic and you.

It’s a choice made, fate or mistake

Whichever one, it’s ours to face.

I was lost in a dream but with you I’m awake

I can’t stay-

You and I could run away
