When I was young I worked on the railroad

The Iron Lady was my school

I rode the engines I trod the pathways

Then I set sail for Liverpool

I got a job down in Camden Town

I worked all the hours that I was sent

Lived in a bed sit in Willesden Junction

Had just enough to pay the rent

We marched on back to the Kilburn High Road

Into the arms of the old kingdom
