Lyrics
Thrown from the comfort of acceptance.
Salt mimics the air, courting alveoli.
The distinct taste of brine and sulphur
replaces death's scent with
burning hypertonic tension.
Light is bendt, boards fading into blue.
Sanguine mist surrounds,
Escaping from old wounds.
Exquisite pain and pressure provide
the vital requisite:
a sepulchre unrealized.
Eyes awake
false fugue state.
Buoyancy taunts complacency:
The raven still flies,
Its sage silhouette rippling through meniscus -
a sardonic genuflection.
The black blood vapor sets
forming viscous, lithe tendrils
attempting to adhere to the lakebed.
Failing to grasp as they dissipate rapidly,
to their source now uninhibited,
tasked to ascend.
Panic sets in.
Grasping the gravity of the situation,
I frantically flail my arms
in an attempt to send the water aside.
Sight quickly obfuscated, brine churns in hysteria.
Equilibrium beginning to falter,
guided by the glints of light
From the crepuscular sketch above.
I continue the ascent, slowing,
Lungs waterlogged in suspension.
Numb to the plight,
body light
There is no pain,
there is but night.
Serotonin seeding temptation,
a growing impulse to yield.
Faltering will power escaping
mind contained inside a flesh coffin: sealed.
Why am I bound to this cycle?
The gravity of my intentions to restabilize ridiculed,
Counter cognition cycles spin on,
invariant under undying experience and effort.
Fear of failure anthropomorphized
in the form of a drowning god.
Allowing false prophets to
succumb to the tide.
Let there be no barrier between
the self below and self above
Turn your head to the surface and
Rise! Rise!
Rise! RISE!
Your immortal
quondam mind:
time and thoughts as one
gazing through the tide.
Your immortal
quondam mind:
now cognizant,
divine.
You're immortal.
You're immortal.
