When I look over my shoulder

I’m not sure what I see

Was there movement through the window

Lake reflecting lightning

Or a memory that echoes

Now it whispers lightly

Moonlight on the meadow

Wind passing through pine trees

It started in the sunset

Covering the high grain

It was up there on the cliff’s edge

It’s there I felt the night change

Down the road on horseback

Hands are gripping tight reins

Magic on the fall night

Sweeping ‘cross the wide plains

Moments gold from times of old are coming here today

Seasons past are heading back in dark, familiar ways

Bonnie ghosts from down the coast in pools of shadow wade

Enchantment that’s here to stay

The river is a dark road

I sat and watched it roll in

It’s misty in the backyard

My gate, it stays open

Spirits of the cold night

I’ve gotten to know them

Magical endeavors

Sentimental moments

Gentle breeze through windblown leaves has led us on our course

Taking heed of branch-felled trees

Move silent and move forward

Angel wings that faintly gleam

I see them from my porch
