I believed in fairytales when I was young

I thought pirates weren't thieves

One day, I could be king

Mama didn't listen when I spoke with my lungs

So I hid in the trees

High enough so she couldn't see

I grew up in a rush

Learned how to never trust

Took all the good for granted

And I tried not to jump

I ran out of luck

Lookin' for some fun

And I almost got stranded

When I tried to run

But I believed in fairytales when I was young
