Voice-over:
In mid September, migratory birds began their migration journey one after another, and I also embarked on my first journey of crossing: driving from Beijing to Ying-Pan-Xu in Sui-Chuan, Jiangxi, which is known as the "Millennium Bird's Road", to meet with Sun Qingsong, a teacher who rushed from the north of Taiwan Island, and complete my agreement with the teacher
The thousand year old Bird's Road Ying-Pan-Weir, from its name alone, appears ancient and mysterious. Due to its unique terrain and climate, this place has been a necessary route for migratory birds since ancient times. Previously, locals discovered the patterns of migratory birds and hunted them extensively; Nowadays, these old habits are gone and replaced by migratory bird rescue stations and environmental monitoring centers. The previous bird catcher became the most skilled volunteer at the environmental monitoring center. On a foggy night, Teacher Sun Qing-song and I witnessed the entire process of the staff catching birds in the rain……The capture that night was very successful, and they will inspect, record, and ring these migratory birds the next day before finally releasing them. These migratory birds will embark on their migration journey again
After several rainy days and heavy fog, Ying-Pan-Xu finally cleared up on the morning before we left. Teacher Sun suggested that I place two microphones under a cluster of plants by the roadside to capture the soundscape of the valley and the call of the Red-billed Leiothrix. Teacher Sun's guidance was very effective, as two omnidirectional microphones hidden in the grass recorded the clear flapping and singing of the Red-billed Leiothrix
I have always had a wish in my heart, hoping to have the opportunity to visit Mr. Sun's small mountain village in Tai-Zhong, to see the birds there, and to listen to the bird songs on Taiwan Island!
