All These Things

I thought I'd go unnoticed

If I kept quiet long enough

In the afternoon break I'd slip through the cracks and I'd finally disappear

Before anyone would find out where I'd gone

I'd be so far away from here

But I know better now

Pinching the moon between my fingers

Observing the life of the ants I keep in a tin can

The adults look so big and strong from here

Compared to all these things

But I know better now

Someone looked down from the counter

And I really wish I could see what goes on there

Because they can stay up as late as they want to

They can do everything they wanted to

And I always wanted to be older

I always wanted to be old

But I know better now
