Dutch indie quartet Rats on Rafts constantly refine and experiment with their post-punk-inspired sound. The group formed in 2005, taking influence from new wave and post-punk bands like Echo & the Bunnymen, the Teardrop Explodes, and fellow countrymen the Ex. After releasing their full-length debut, The Moon Is Big, in 2011, the band's music became more experimental and ambitious, with releases like 2021's Excerpts from Chapter 3: The Mind Runs a Net of Rabbit Paths exploring psychedelic, prog rock, and Krautrock influences. 2025's Deep Below shifted the group's sound to goth rock and dream pop.
