Lyrics

I’m standing in line at number four, everyone is betting,
There’s tv screens everywhere I look, it’s upsetting,
JC got married so we came out to the track,
I think I may be tripping, or maybe this is just a flashback,
I walk up to the window, trifecta please,
Pride of Palm Springs, daddy’s little devil, and Kentucky quick like the breeze, She’s talking to me, from underneath her pink reading glasses,
I don’t hear any words, I don’t hear nothing, I’m not sure how much time passes, And the horses are at the gate, I’m wondering,
Is this luck or is this fate...
I’m at a bar outside Lafayette, band’s about to play,
Everybody’s hanging loose, drinking beer and eating etouffee,
Somebody’s setting off fireworks across the street in the park,
I light a cigarette and walk around the block, it’s getting dark,
A car pull’s up beside me, he asks me am I looking for weed,
I say no man thanks though, I got what I need,
He keeps on moving, I take a drag on my square,
Try and blow a couple smoke rings, and watch them hang in the air,
And I hear the music starting,
I’m thinking of another move besides arriving or departing...
