The Budos Band describe their sound as a genreless meld that employs so many musical traditions and sonic elements that they are almost genre-less, bridging musical universes from trippy psychedelia and Afrofunk to Ethio-jazz and doomy rock to vintage soul and R&B. Their labyrinthine compositions consistently offer tight arrangements and infectious grooves. Their early catalog, from 2005-2010 -- Budos Band I, II, and III -- showcased a developing sound from early influences. 2014's Burnt Offering wove early-'70s-tinged psychedelia and Krautrock. Their music evolved on tour in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. They integrated raw, metal-tinged, high-energy psych on 2019's V, and horn-drenched, dubby psychedelia on 2020's Long in the Tooth. 2023's Frontier's Edge EP marked their debut release from Diamond West Records, an in-house label run by saxophonist Jared Tankel and guitarist Tom Brenneck. Budos returned in 2025 with VII, an album directly decended from Burnt Offering a decade earlier.
