Playing lively, evocative covers along with original material, Los Angeles-based Orgone brought attention to the funk revivalist/jam band circuits when they launched their recording career with Ubiquity Records in the mid- to late 2000s. Orgone's sound hosts a myriad of groove-oriented styles, including deep funk, Memphis soul/blues, Afro-beat, hip-hop, Latin jazz, electronic dance, and house. Orgone formed in the mid-'90s and had developed into a tight-knit ensemble at century's end. 2007's Killion Floor put them on the map and 2010's Cali Fever established them internationally. They self-released 2012's Fuzzed Up and 2013's New You before signing to Colemine for 2015's Beyond the Sun and 2018's Undercover Mixtape. Orgone established 3 Palm Records for 2019's Reasons, followed by Connection in 2020, Moonshadows in 2021, Lost Knights in 2022, and Chimera in 2024.
Members of Orgone include, or have included, Dan Hastie and Fanny Franklin.
