Kobukuro is an award-winning Japanese folk-pop duo who have had 18 Top 10 singles in Japan.
∙ Kentarō Kobuchi and Shunsuke Kuroda, both street musicians in their hometown of Sakai, formed the duo in 1998.
∙ They had their first big hit with 2001’s “Yell,” which reached No. 4 on the Oricon Singles chart and sold more than 200,000 copies.
∙ NAMELESS WORLD, from 2005, was their first No. 1 on the Oricon Albums chart and won the Japan Gold Disc Award for Rock & Pop Album of the Year.
∙ “Tsubomi,” Kobukuro’s No. 1 single from 2007, won the Grand Prix at the 49th Annual Japan Record Awards.
∙ The 2018 compilation All Time Best was their eighth release to top the Oricon Albums chart.
