An Americana singer/songwriter with an ear for evocative lyrical details and a slight penchant for prog rock, Jason Hawk Harris made a vivid impression with his 2019 debut album, Love & the Dark. Inspired in part by his tumultuous personal life, the record showcased an artist whose music fell between the epic sweep of Sturgill Simpson with a Texas kick and the stark, grounded storytelling of Jason Isbell. More personal and professional setbacks sidelined Harris' career for several years, but he rebounded with 2023's Thin Places, a set of songs informed by the death of his mother.
