A rowdy, Texas-based alt-country outfit, the Vandoliers have a sound that melds Red Dirt country, rootsy rock & roll, a dash of Tejano flair, and the swaggering attitude of punk rock. Founder Jenni Rose spins heartfelt tales of Lone Star life, full of big emotions and cold beer, and the band kicks up plenty of dust as the guitars and drums join the cry of the fiddle and the occasional peal of the trumpet. The Vandoliers cut a pair of well-received albums on Texas indie State Fair Records (2016's Ameri-Kinda and 2017's The Native) and had a brief association with insurgent country imprint Bloodshot (2019's Forever) before they struck out on their own with 2022's high-spirited and defiant The Vandoliers. Their fifth LP, 2025's Life Behind Bars, was a deeply personal set that dealt openly with issues of addiction and gender dysphoria.
