About Bilal Saeed
Artist Biography
Bilal Saeed began his career producing music for others, but it’s his own brand of soulful, modern bhangra pop that has caused a stir—and occasionally a viral sensation.
• Saeed fell in love with singing as a child, inspired by the ghazal greats such as Mehdi Hassan and Noor Jehan. But he got his start writing and composing for other artists at a local studio in Sialkot, Pakistan.
• The artist made his singing debut in 2011 with “12 Saal”, a meditation on love that alludes to the famous Punjabi tale of Heer and Ranjha. This was followed by the equally emotional “Adhi Adhi Raat”, which became a meme for its elongated “Oooo” in the chorus.
• Garnering several award nominations, Saeed’s debut album Twelve springboarded him further into the public eye. He was soon composing and singing in the various languages of Indian cinema, from Punjabi (“Rattan Chitian” on Daddy Cool Munde Fool) to Hindi (“Mohabbat Yeh” on Ishqedarriyaan).
• The singer enjoys collaboration and has worked with the likes of Bloodline (“Kaash”), Romee Khan (“Snapchat Story”) and Momina Mustehsan (“Baari”) so far.
