Lyrics

The silver cables whispered as the chamber hummed its hymn
And the buttons glowed like blackened gems buried deep within
I pressed them one by one, each number fading thin
Until the fourth began to ring with a hollow violin
The elevator chimed with teeth behind a grinning door
And velvet walls grew closer than they ever had before
Then my heartbeat throbbed in haste to unrepentant skies
Where every mirrored surface had been fractured into eyes
The fourth floor answered softly with a door that opened wide
And beyond its frame there waited only air on every side
I stepped across the threshold where the carpet turned to cloud
And the silence wrapped around me like a shroud
Oh, I did not leap for death but for a place I could not see
Yet the fall became what waits beneath
The glass within the panels bent and twisted where it broke
And figures leaned like shadows mouthing words they never spoke
Their fingers tapped in rhythm to a twisted lullaby
As if they knew the secret that the numbers only lie
The sequence turned to whispers and the buttons bled away
Until the fourth glowed like a candle in decay
The air grew sharp and shadows learned to sing of pain
And the walls bent inward like a bow that would not wane
The fourth floor answered softly with a door that opened wide
And beyond its frame there waited only air on every side
I stepped across the threshold where the carpet turned to cloud
And the silence wrapped around me like a shroud
Oh, I did not leap for death but for a place I could not see
Yet the fall became what waits beneath
The bell lingers on
My heartbeat echoes withdrawn
Yet the sound lives on
Four chimes call my name
Echo down a dream-bound frame
Falling just the same
The silver cables whispered as the chamber hummed its hymn
