The Journey

The early morning sun shone on the Charminar and a handsome young Indian man held his first born and his young wife in his arms for the last time

“Today” he told himself:

“I shall meet destiny and be the master of my own fate

His head reeled with the heat of the tarmac and the acrid smell of of jet fuel.

His neatly pressed white shirt stained dark with noon day summer sweat contoured his body.

The boarding pass clutched tight in his hands stained his fingers red

Strange faces and sound brought him apprehension…yet nothing and no one on earth would take this moment from him.

Over oceans, deserts, rivers and mountains across continents and great divides he would

fly to the shores…
