Growin' Up

I had blinders on

Didn’t hit me till that day my Dad was gone

Just a kid one minute next thing I knew hell I was grown

And it’s been awhile since anywhere’s felt like home

It’s been too long

 

Lately it’s been crazy living up in here my head

Never used to take a whiskey or a toke to go to bed

Turns out turning twenty-one ain’t what it’s all cracked up to be

Didn’t know what I didn’t know when I was young

Oh but now it Feels like I might know too much

But that’s just growin’ up

Now I got bills to pay

Waiting on a check and it ain’t came yet

Gotta find a way

This working all the time sure

Makes me miss them days

When I was seventeen

When my whole world was a truck and a girl and some 89 gasoline
