I met a crow just down the road,
Black as the night; it followed me.
Upon my stairs, it slightly stepped;
I sprinkled round sunflower seeds.
I named that crow Diego;
Each morning, would sit carefree.
Along my journey, we would go;
He waited in the trees.
I met a man with coal black eyes;
He quickly stole my heart.
We swore our love would forever be,
And we would never part.
A silver ring he gave to me;
It sparkled and shined.
Diego brought a rose to me
And a string like crimson wine.

Eventually,

One dawn, my love was late to meet,
But Diego he took flight.
