They died with songs stuck in their throats

Choking on hope in bloodstained coats

I smiled as the silence grew

A captain with no crew

Their laughter rots in memory's bed

I play for phantoms all of them dead

The wine is dust the food is mold

But still I toast what can't grow old

The sea forgets but I remember

Every scream's a silent ember

Bones don't cry but I ache

Each note I play's a new heartbreak

Fifty years with nothing but ghosts

No skin to touch no hands to hold

Laboon forgive me I lied to you

Your ocean waits but I never came through

My voice decays in cursed refrain

A song of rust regret and pain

Let them dance in hell or peace

I envy those who found release

I walk I laugh I play the fool

But I am death in a dusty suit

For every friend that death did bring
