Ordinary Day

If I could spend one ordinary day

Just Betty B., miss nobody from nowhere the kind of role I never get to play:

Just a girl who has to make ends meet.

Who takes the bus to work most every day or if it's nice I'll walk it all the way

Shop for peaches after work

Buy postcards from the postal clerk, then home to eat before i hit the hay...

I'd surely have some ordinary friends

Just like me they're nobodys from nowhere oh what I'd give if I could only go where there's no press to speculate

About my hemlines or my weight

Oh what I wouldn't give to find a way to spend a very ordinary day

If I could find a place to hang my hat

Kick off my shoes, relax, and chew the fat

No more flashbulbs, no more fuss, deliciously anonymous oh what could be more wonderful than that?

If I could wish miss movie star away,

Then i could be miss nobody from nowhere. Oh what i'd give if I could only go where

I could have a world of fun.

Just finding errands i can run

 

Oh, what i wouldn't give to find a way... To spend a very ordinary day
