Clawing Wounds

Terrorised

Blood paints the back of my eyes

Insurmountable dark

Unfaltering nightmare

Terrorised,

Buried beneath the dirt and snow

Smothered by the earth

Choking on the bodies below

These roots hold me here

I felt them burrowing since birth

 

Nature, Nurture

None of it seems to matter

My destiny to rot

Tearing muscle from bone to shift the soil

Clawing wounds in the earth to reach the air

Drag my body until my tendons come apart

Learn my curse to deny my destiny to rot

 

Emerge from my tomb

Untouchable by god and man

Hunted by death

you should have killed me when you had the chance
