One day in homeroom I wrote my name on the bottom of a chair

You could tell by the way the letters are crooked that I knew I shouldn’t have written it there

It was an innocent hope, a middle school stroke, evidence in case I found my luck 

A little piece of me in black Sharpie so Mr. Connolley could sell it for a million bucks

October came and went so quick, when I started kissing Leah by the maple tree

High school sucked oh but that was it, It was love before you even knew what it meant

I stole a pocket knife from my dad’s work bench, carved it into the side of the bark 

“K and L forever”, so cliche wrapped inside a little heart 

But if we made it someday

Then they all would say

Poured concrete in the driveway of the house we built on the edge of town

Two little hands and two little feet of the kids everybody calls "mini-me"

A time stamp of where we are now, everything we’re still trying to figure out

But if we move away 

We could come back and say 

That as long as we’re together 

This family is forever, always
