year of the crow

I made friends with a crow

He bribed my cats

And came in through the cat flap

Said he wanted to help

He saw a book on the sofa and said

"i see you're familiar with my work"

I smiled through the grief and said

"i see you're familiar with mine"

I asked him if he was real

Or if i was just stealing an idea

"i don't think that matters" he said

I suppose that's true

I asked him, "what happens now?"

"you tell me" he said

"well, i suppose you stay"

"until I don't need you anymore"

And so began
