Voices

Outside the skin

There's many a wind

To be swept up in

And though I've found wealth

Within the self

I fear I've been caged in

I speak to you

You speak to me

We converse and converge

So carelessly

Has it all been in vain

These voices that we feed

On body and soul

Whatever that may be

To you and me

So I walk around

With these familiar sounds

Ringing all around me

Are these sounds my own

Are these questions getting old

If I'm out here on my own

Then however have you found me

These voices they appear

They with dance with me a while

I share them and I care for them

And then they pass me by

The tides are always changing

Our days awash, anew

But the water is dark and murky

When a body tries to see through

A new shade of blue

I've got no graceful resolution

To leave you satisfied

I've got no alluring twist

My story lives and dies

Before your eyes

Perfection is the prize

That we never seem to find

So I speak to you

You speak to me

We converse and converge

So helplessly

Has it all been in vain
