Outside Looking In

I look all around me and see

Five separate aspects of me

How could that possibly be?

We see the world so differently

I didn't live here til today

Still struggle to communicate

I love you so much it's insane

Waited my whole life for this day

Where do I begin?

On the outside I'm looking in

And all I see is space

A familiar brand new place

Somehow and I don't know

This path I never take leads to my home

It's like traveling through time

No detail left behind

I dream of the day I return

Sweet sun on my skin does not burn

New sounds here that I never heard

There's still so much I'd love to learn

Like how come the beer is so cold

If the fridge here is eighty years old?

Or what is that thing that you say

When it comes time for us to part ways?

Where do I begin?

On the outside I'm looking in

And I feel you here with me

Under the shade of our mango tree

Somehow and I don't know

This path I never take leads to my home

And if I could see things through

Someday I might move back here with you
