My Garden

I was lost

In my own garden

About as lost

As I’ve ever been

Asphalt where once

I grew tomatoes

Climbing string beans

And my peppermint

And moss

And the smell of running water

And my little brother

And natives bees

I have crossed

The distance of a lifetime

In the space of a memory

When I was young

I could draw a picture of a home

And walk right in

All my loved ones

They would be there with me

Being alone

I can’t even imagine it
