Lyrics

Her hair like goldilocks
All arms and legs
And careful heart
She longed for conversation
Sat on a double bunk
A wooden floor
A floral rug
She wrote on card stock paper
Who could be mine?
Who could be mine?
Late to the party
Like she always was
She walked into a
Champagne kind of stranger
Quick wit and silver-tongued
He stood there in the kitchen
Like she'd always known she'd meet him
And gravity turned light
From the outside they were
Two dandelions
Falling, reeling
Floating surprise and sweet delight
All working out just right
A goldilocks kind of feeling
You could be mine
You look like mine
So forty years would pass
With rings, with kids, with family dogs
With day old bread and butter
The morning breath and tired eyes
The long goodnights and lullabies
And the coffee percolator
And through it all she'd keep on
Writing to her dandelion
Leaving notes by the radiator
And if it all went down in fire
And all the milk and cards expired
Well at least they had each other
With you, I'll be alright
With you, I'll be fine
And as the years go by
He'd start to forget
Her name and then her eyes
Memories coloured in black and white
Remembering through a steel colander mind
And she wrote him now for his smile
And she wrote him to the end of his mile
She sits alone
And so it goes
A china teacup and a crow
In the yard in the evening
The wicker chair
The ticking clock
She writes him one last card
Tilts her head to the ceiling
I won't be far behind
I love you my dandelion
I love you my dandelion
