The Dawn Chorus

If you look out to the horizon

You can see it all laid out for us

We have been here so long

We always start with a song

So we all join our morning chorus

As we welcome in the rising sun

Like all of our elders before us

We have learnt all of this

From old Archaeopteryx

So we sing out the words that they taught us

In the dawn light

There is still time

Take a moment before it's the day

With that sun rise

We will share the skies

But take a moment before it breaks

From the golden crowned kinglet

To the common Raven

You'd be foolish to ever ignore us

We can look down from high

When we're blessed with this light

So we'll sing as the dawn comes in for us

As if any could slumber

When there's songs to be sung

Before us was Sinornithosaurus

They formed the feathers

Then we took on all weathers

And began to uphold the dawn chorus

With that sun rise

We will share the skies

But take a moment before it breaks
