Sunday Supper

Running through the field where pops cut hay

Heading down to the creek for three or four days

Grab my fishing poles and my tackle bag

Lady's in the front seat, and the guitar's in the back

Never know what you have

Till you take a look in the past

Momma's ringin' that bell on the front porch

Kids all sittin' there, scratching on the screen door

Momma's gonna be mad when she finds out we're not at home

Headin' down the back road, laughing

These dogs are barking the same old songs

This ol' pickup truck's just hummin' along

It runs on teenage love and cheap gasoline

And it's seen a lot, if you know what I mean

Stayed out late, and I don't want to leave

Best bet I'll make it for those collard greens
