But I needed to grow up

That I was being irresponsible

Last night at the Blind Pig Pub

And I said, you know what?

There were fourteen beer cans on my kitchen table

This morning when I woke up

So I warmed up a Hot Pocket

Threw it in my lunch box and headed on off to work

About a mile down the road, my old engine overheated

I was seven thousand miles past the oil change I needed

I hitched me a ride to the waterhole saloon

'Cause work's over rated and a beer's past due

There ain't nothing wrong with being irresponsible

We had a show last night in deep east Texas

Way out of hand, half the people got arrested

Owner stumbled up in his drunken rage

Hell, even Ray Wylie Hubbard wouldn't even stick around

I picked up my Bud Light, I walked off stage

We loaded up the gear but we didn't get paid
