Another sunny day, didn’t feel anything

Drinking beer on the bus, I was invincible

Being young and having fun swam through my life

Now it floods all the gaps and the cracks in my mind

I was gonna make homemade bread, didn’t feel up to it

Perils of a hangover visited me instead

Absent for the whole weekend waiting for the moment when

My mind has derailed and my organs have failed

But I’m fine

Wandering baby hands jammed in the door again

Weekends on campus when things were unbearable

Both seem insignificant, didn’t think to mention it

File em away with my meeting with death

Now I’m searching for a different rush, well versed in double Dutch

Perils of persuasion visiting way too much

I can barely lift my head, spend the whole weekend in bed

Furniture swaying and my wasted youth playing on my mind

Now I’m drinking and I’m thinking ‘bout

The pleasant sunny days

Drawing perfect circles then torching every page

Now they’ve paved over the scenic route

In such a callous way

And they’re burning down the middle schools

Every other day

Now they’re paving over everything

There’s nowhere left to run

And you’re just a fading memory
