The Canyon

I am a remnant of this land

Now a barren lot of sand

I’ve traveled miles, I’ve paid my fare

But time moves slow in the canyon air

This place once housed a great collage

But footsteps lead to an old mirage

All I see is a willow tree

But in this tree lives an industry

Lost time on an open road

Can’t stop to see where I’m going

Searching for signs of a long lost friend

Will I ever see you again

Sometimes I dream of paradise

To craft an art that will suffice

But the road is filled with much despair

No one said the road was fair

The canyon is a battleground

We’re all alone and all around

Never really safe and sound

Will my journey’s end be found
