Shallow Rivers

You could say we liked to swim in shallow rivers

We grew fonder as we floundered by the banks

But I lied and swore that I was not a fibber

It was false to feign my passion as a prank

I suppose we practiced polar opposition

You could say we liked to play on different poles

I'm still cautious that we'll crack upon collision

I'll be smiling as I skip over the shoals
