ANGELINA

When she gives her sign,

To a passer- by,

Has a hope someday one will stay

And she lives alone,

In an old folks’ home,

And I guess she’ll end up that way

Angelina tries

But she fails again

Then she found she can touch the postman’s hand,

As the letters go through the box,

To see the milkman’s smile makes it all worthwhile

Just to sit and wait for the knocks

Angelina tries but she fails again

Angelina remembers a pleasant day when she was young

But doesn’t seem to realise these pleasant days are gone

Because age breaks up her person like the sea breaks up the shore

And stops Angelina from seeing that she’s failing once more

Should she feel inside that she ought to hide

Take the shelter of her room

And her thoughts hang on to a false someone

And I hope he comes along soon
