From here looking out,

Promise found me stirring,

Been skirting around,

Almost everything.

Was wading through the current

When I lost my footing,

Though,

It just served my resolve,

If anything.

And I come back here so often,

Though less so at the start,

I’d been set on finding,

What quiet could impart.

I come back here so often,

But saw as time unfurled,

I’ve been treading water,

Hiding from the world.

I come back here so often,

When the sea gets rough,

I would be here searching

But never find that much.

I come back here so often,

And lately, even more.

Wishing it was all just

As it was before.

And I come back here so often,

I’m starting now to see,

Where perhaps there once was,

There’s nothing here for me

It doesn’t work, I know.

I should be getting back now,

I should really go.
