It Was Only a Dream

I awoke from a fear that my fault had taken you away

So I'll write down the bones and breathe you into the day

To refrain from the oft' time medicine 'til it is clear

It was only a dream and a dream is a skeleton

We went up to Rathfriland, embraced the ache of the unknown

As the infinite light played tunes to churchyard and stones

Let me linger beside this ossuary 'til I recall

It was only a dream but the dream is perpetual
