Sometimes I feel like I’m drowning

I open my eyes and the water keeps running

And I don’t understand

Nothing is going the way that I planned

Somebody told me

Don’t wait until you’re forty

Work on yourself and

You’ll never need a man

But later when I’d try to sleep

And there’d be no one lying next to me

I’d want more

So there in that moment

I made you my focus

I needed you to notice

I fell at your doorstep

But now I’m staring at the ceiling

and I can’t help but get the feeling

I’m still alone

And if I believed it’d be easy to see but I’m so hard to please it’s unnatural
