Your green winter coat

Still hanging in the closet

And all the shoes you owned

Lined up in the hallway

The house hasn’t changed a bit

The living room is softly lit

The silence only grew a little stronger

There’s an empty half in the double bed

Loneliness in my father’s head

But his drawings seem to be so full of colour

How many times have you climbed those stairs?

With a weight on your shoulders that you couldn’t share?

So many words still left unsaid

They echo in my heart, hurt my head

We still feed the fish

And the chickens everyday now

The house is not as clean

As it used to be, ok?

Father is still holding on

A warrior, grey and strong

He pours his soul out onto paper

White noise ringing in his ears

The memories from all those years

The great ones becoming even greater.
