Neat, your edges protected by your palms

I marvelled at you.

I showed you around.

We spoke, a little.

You, uncurled

My world, now your world.

The others: babes from different scenes

Drank their water from distant sills

Edges, long unfurled

Teased, creased, crinkled and curled

By the winds that just keep changing.

You, rooted your changes in me.

I watched, I watch

Your seasons ebb and flow like the sea.

Now you stand tall

Slow eclipse that bathes us all

In cool shade enough to rest.
