House Arrest

It wasn’t until I went up in the clouds

backlit by suburban lights

A memory came

Only the hum of my city below

and the rattle of the airplane

decorate the silence

My world upside down

in the cabin window frame

with the sky for an ocean

and vapour for snow

I’m blasting through

like an icebreaker

in isolation

Forgetting everything

but a sequence of images

Racing up and down runways

Chasing through a deserted town

Looking around

Loving you

And that’s when thought

(that) I won’t be afraid again
