The Flood

I heard the news about a flood

The big kind to cover us all up

So, I stayed all day by the window

Waiting for the rain to come

I saw a man about a fear

He said hey just lay your body here

So, I lay all day on his sofa

But none of it would disappear

So, I wait in the rain for the flood

And I gave all I had ‘til I was done

And nobody came and nobody sees what they have done

I saw a neighbour with a gun

I closed the door and turned the tv on

Cos I’ve spent all week in a bad mood

And now she’s lost her only son

I heard a shotgun in the night

It may have been a storm just passing by

But I stayed all week in my bedroom

Wondering if he’s alive
