Rite of the Hunt

I remember your eyes amplified

Old & golden beside the fire

With your long loaded stares

The length of neck always prickles up it’s hairs

Into the woods our heart’s would fly

Into the valley hidden by the sky

Hungry & teasing your pace would be slow

Head full of antlers into the hunt we go

Howl

Further & deeper he would chase her side

Through the moss & the bracken away from the eye’d

He’d ease her higher standing stones would appear

She’d look back catch a glimpse through the trees that hear

The thrill of the hunt she spins back into the chase

Leads him into the cave a warm and fire lit place

He’ll enter soon after erect & hot

Feathered mask hides his face but his eyes

She’s never forgot

Howl

And all to be heard

was the sound of two great mountains colliding

As he pounced upon his prey & all the empty space dividing

Into the woods our hearts would fly

Into the valley hidden by the sky

In full pace in the hunt, the stalk, the kill

In the thrill of the chase
