The Trip

There's a trip I know that I would like to take

It seems like the right time and the weather is great

But this journey seems like I'm choosing my own fate

But my bags are packed and I can't wait

But there's this sinking feeling I feel

Cos this trip is only one way

And it'll be my first one alone

Don't know how I feel about not coming home

And though I'm wishing here with all my might

I guess what they say is always right

That "the grass is greener on the other side"

The other side

And when I'm all alone in the pitch black night

My mind is under the bright spotlight

And now I wish this wasn't my fight

Should I catch that flight

It's been years now, but I still think about it day and night

When's the last time things felt right

And I wanna scream and shout

But this pounding headache's keeping it inside

Which will it be, fight or flight

But there's lots to think about on solo trips like these

Like who I'm leaving behind, and is it worth it

But it's a constant battle, as if the angel's now the devil

Wanna be strong enough to stay for a little while, but

Despite the wishing on with all my might

I hope what they say isn't right

That the grass is greener on the watered side

And when I'm all alone in the pitch black night

It's still in the back of my mind, especially when the weather's great

But I've realised, there's more to life than choosing your own fate

And so till the time is right

I guess, I'll wait
