An Old Abandoned Church

The stained glass window's broken from a rock that some kid threw

Dust covers all the pages of the hymnals in the pews

The paint is chipped and the bell is cracked

Sometimes I feel just like that

Forgotten by the builder's hands

Left alone to fall or stand

He sees the wretched shape I'm in and His love goes to work

Bricks will crumble, boards will break

But His foundation never shakes

Filling me with grace I don't deserve

When I feel as empty as an old abandoned church

The neighbors haven't heard the choir singing here in years

And it's been a while since the altar felt a sinner's tear

But the cross is still there hanging in its place

And the sign out front still says "Jesus saves"

Forgotten by the builder's hands

Left alone to fall or stand

He sees the wretched shape it's in but His love's still at work

When things start to fall apart, He's not the one who leaves

Though the building is deserted, we will never be
