 I was 16 when the towers tumbled down

 And in that moment my mission was found 

 The brotherhood where I was born to be

 To live and to die a marine

 My high school lost a warrior in Iraq 

 So they all tried to change my mind, they tried to turn me back

 But I said don’t you think I know that’s what it means

 It takes people like me who are willing to fight 

 Who are willing to pay the sacrifice

 So people like you can protest in the streets

 Some people can wonder their whole life

 If they made a difference by being alive

 For them it’s a problem, for us it’s never gonna be

 My heroes walked in boots the same as these

 Their names carved into dog tags running back through history

 I’ve done my best to live their legacy
