Onshore is where he waited for he was captivated by a woman in sealskin

When she was bathing in the morning light, he asked her "Would you be my wife?"

She said the ocean is where I belong, with me you cannot come along

She swam away and kindly waved "So long, so long"

And he said

"Selkie, please, come along with me!"

"Selkie, please, come along with me!"

Months turned into years, oh, his longing felt severe

Until the day she came to land and shed her skin lying in the sand

He stole what he believed he earned and took her by the hand

And he said

"Selkie, now you belong to me!"

She took his hand and walked along away from where she used to belong

But left her heart there in the sea

Months turned into years, oh, her longing felt severe

Until the day she found her pelt and left without a farewell

She shifted back and swam away and disappeared into the ocean's sway

And he cried

"Selkie, where are thee?"

"Selkie, where are thee?"

Upon a cliff, he waited for he was captivated by a woman in sealskin

Months turned into years, oh, his longing felt severe

Waiting to steal back her pelt, why she left, he could not tell

He'd lost the one he never had and threw himself off the cliff and fell

And he screamed

"Selkie, I'll join you in the sea!"

"Selkie, I'll join you in the sea, sea!"
