The Buddha and the Gong

Why do you always thump my head

All the buzzing and humming

Hurts my body so bad

And my ears ringing so loud

Hey you Buddha up there

We are both made of bronze

Yet you sit up so high to be respected by people

While I get thumped everyday

This is truly unfair

Dear gong

Your discontent

Your complaint

You've only got yourself to thank

You can't put up with what they do to you

Digging cutting carving

I tolerated what you could not

I let them carve and dig

I let them hammer and burn

My eyes my limbs

My lotus throne and my aura

All of these came from the knocking pain

Life is full of half and half

You yell in pain for what you cannot bear

For this you became a gong

I remain silent for what I could tolerate

For this I became the Buddha

To be a Buddha or to be a gong

It's a choice of your own

If you pass the garden's thorns

You will smell the roses

Butterflies

That do not break through the cocoon

Will never attain it's colorful wings

Tolerance is the wisdom of life

Tolerance is a weapon against failure

Tolerance is the only way to be the master of your own life

To be a Buddha or a gong
